District Pennant Play Off
The 2019 play off's were held at Bateau Bay Bowling Club on Tuesday 30th April and Wednesday the 1st May.
Munmorah United had teams in Grade 2, Grade 3 and Grade 4. All teams played great bowls and provided lots of excitement to the many supporters. Grade 3 had to win the last game to have a chance of winning the flag and they set out to do just that finishing in fine style. Well done Ladies.
Grade 2 struggled a bit through the game but managed to cut the margin towards the end of the game but sadly ran out of ends. Better luck next year Ladies.
Grade 4 managed to take the lead for a while but the opposition was pretty strong and they ended up taking control towards the end of the game.
All in all Munorah had a very good day with one flag and two runners up.

2019 Fours Championship
The final of the Fours Championship was held on Thursday 28th February between Claire Hobans team of B. Jones, A. Griffiths, S. Geddes, and Pam Robson's team of S. Holman, H. Stevenson and K. White.
Pam's team got off to a good start leading by 4 after end 3. by end 10 it was 7 all and from then on it was neck and neck right up to the last end where Pam was leading by only 2 shots and Claire's team picked up a 1 to make the score 16 to Pam and 15 to Claire.
I believe it was a good game to watch but as I was in it it is hard to say. I know it was enjoyable to play.
Congratulations to Claire, Sonia, Allison and Beverley for making it to the final and for the way in which they played.
Well done to Pam's team on another Championship win.
2019 District Senior Fours Runners up
Well done Bev Inwood, Rosemary Elliott, Helen Austin and skip Gail Sheehan. I believe it was a close game but in the end Umina got over the line.
May this new year bring you good health, good luck and new friends as you continue to enjoy the good life at our Wonderful Club.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Another year has nearly gone and party season is in full swing. The Munmorah Ladies celebrated the year on tuesday with a lovely lunch and the annual concert. Once again the social girls did a wonderful job in decorating the dining room. A great deal of effort was put into making the day perfect. The theme was a snowy Christmas this year with snowmen, reindeers and snowflakes on every table. The theme was carried quite unintentionally through to the cake which was also a snow scene, there must have been psychic waves involved here.
Our annual concert was held after the lunch and was once again a great success. Our ladies have many talents and bravely put them on display for all to enjoy with the many different acts performed. I bet I get some comments on that last sentence. There are many photos to see in our photo gallery so go relive the fun afternoon.
Merry Christmas everyone.

This game was played on a Saturday and I was unable to watch it but from all accounts it was a very good game. Jennifer had a very hardy opponant in Tracey Crane who is still a working bowler hence the Saturday game. Congratulations to both Ladies on their achievements.
President's Day 14/6/2018
A beautiful cloud free day what a lovely way to celebrate the hard work and time put in by your hard working President.
President Beverley arrived with Director Leslie Swales, President Diane Elsom and daughter Gayle to a Guard of honour formed by the members and guests.
Inside after introductions and welcomes were made a lovely morning tea was held.
The Flag raising ceremony was then held which was followed by a short game of bowls.
Bev was joined by her family and we all had a nice relaxing meal before the commencement of the Toasts.
Director Leslie then presented Merit badges to Jennifer Horne, Robyn Pierce, Margaret Hassell and Sharon Heaton for their long serving work in the Ladies Club.
President Beverley then cut her cake with assistance from Director Leslie and President Diane.
Grade 3 Flag Unfurling 14/6/2018
Held in conjuction with President Beverley's Special day the Grade 3 Ladies watched as their hard won flag was hoist for the first time. No tangles and the right way up it waved happily in the slight breeze.
The morning started with morning tea and introductions of our Distinguished guests before we all formed up to give a Guard of Honour for the Grade 3 Ladies to march out on the green. Proudly led by President Bev, Director Leslie and President Dianne.
President Bev and President Dianne then unfurled the Flag.
Certificates were then handed out to the Avoca Ladies for their effort as Runner up and our girls received their Pennant badges.
A short game of bowls followed and then we all went in for a beautiful Lunch. At the end of lunch the traditional cutting of the cake took place with the two skips Claire Hoban and Marlene Trounce doing the honour.

2018 Fours Championship.
8/5/2018. The Final of this years Championship was played between Helen Austin's team of Dianne Matthews, Brenda Whitman and Debra Rae and Pamela Robson's team of Doris Kirk, Helen Stevenson and Kay White. As I played in this game it is difficult to remember much about it as it was such an intense game. The scores were neck and neck for most of the game and most of the heads were very close. It was played in a very sporting manner and the people watching were very supportive of the good bowling and I remember thinking at one time how quiet they all were during play, something unusual for our Club I think.
If I remember correctly on the 19th end the score was 19 to Helen and 17 to Pam and the final score ended up being 22 to Helen and 17 to Pam.
Congratulations to Helen and the girls they played very well.
Photo to come.

2018 Hetherington Trophy
Congratulations to Munmorah's team who were runners up in this years Hetherington Trophy which was held at The Entrance Bowling Club on 7/5/2018. The Ladies did very well to only go down by 1/2 a point over all. Congratulations to Golden Hind Ladies who took home the Trophy.
Hopefully I will get a photo soon.
Gala Day 23/4/2018
Once again we have been very lucky with the weather for our Gala day. We had 2 greens full with teams from many Clubs as well as our own Ladies.
The two games of 11 ends was played in the morning with everyone coming in for a Picnic lunch. Raffles, Tombola and 100 Club were drawn before our winners and runners up were announced. The winners on the day were B. Pemberton first. R. Wall second. M.Trounce third. Congratulations to all our winners.

Regional Pennant Play off at Charlestown Bowling Club. 29/4/2018
The day dawned cool and slightly wet. Our girls got off to a good start against their opposition Marks Point and were 10 ahead after 22 ends on the Master Board. We then had quite a prolonged period of rain which slowed everything down and everyone got wet. It was very difficult for all teams to hold onto their bowls through this period.
After 32 ends the scores were 33 Munmorah and 26 Marks Point. Marlene's team were behind but Claire's girls were still hanging in. All the ladies played well in the conditions and it came down to the very last end where both teams were on 37. We needed just one shot, unfortunately it was not to be. The final score being 37 - 38 to Marks Point. Congratulations to the Marks Point Ladies and well played Munmorah.
Our supporters were there in numbers and I am sure were greatly appreciated by our players.
President Beverley with the team after the game.
"Oh What a Feeling."
They did it.
Grade 3 Ladies won the Flag.
Well done you did your Club proud and made President Bev's day.
The play off for our Ladies was played over two days and as they won their first game against Avoca Beach on both rinks this gave them five points. Going into day two against Gosford City they only needed to win on one rink to win the flag. The day was quite warm and the green was fast with a breeze that made it tricky. Marlene's team started well and got a few points lead which they managed to keep. Claire had more trouble on her rink with luck not going their way at all and a few too many good shots from the opposition. Over all it was a very interesting game to watch. The girls were cheered on by a team of Munmorah supporters dressed in Club uniform which was great to see. Our congratulations go to Gosford City for reaching the play off and for their good sportsmanship during and after the game.

2018 Major Singles Championship
Wow what a game this turned out to be. Helen Austin our veteran singles champion and Vicki Rayner, a relative newby turned on a first class match today. It was anybody's right up until the last couple of ends. Helen had a lead there for a few ends but Vicki fought back valiantly and managed to get ahead to a 20 - 19 lead but Helen came back over the next 2 ends to win 25-21. Congratulations to both Ladies on a very entertaining match. Unfortunately we will be losing Vicki in the next few weeks and we wish her well at her new club wherever that may be further north.

Gala Day 9/10/2017
This our last Gala day for the year was very well supported and we had 2 full greens on a very warm day. Play was stopped after most rinks had played 7 ends in the second game due to high humidity.
The winner on the day was J. Waight's team from Marks Point. Second place - H. Austin's team from Munmorah and 3rd place was B. Luke's team from Munmorah. Well done Ladies.
Our thanks to Coca Cola for their sponsorship on the day.

Our Final today was between Rosemary Elliotts team of Jenny Armstrong, Mary Reiher ánd Margaret Nel, and Claire Hoban's team of Fran Holder, Marillyn Worral, and Sonia Geddes. Last day of Bowls 2016
Tuesday the 6th December was our last day of bowling for 2016. Christmas shirts were the order of the day with various headwear to match. The game was played in rather a different way with bowlers changing bowls with their next team member. ie first handed her bowl to the second etc. The game was completed this way which saw quite a few wrong bias bowls. By the end of the game everyone was getting the hang of it and many really good bowls found their way to the Jack. Thankfully the weather was kind to us and everyone enjoyed the day. (Photos in The Gallery)
